So on Monday I stepped away from my job as a Funeral Director/ Mortician after 20 years in the industry (which I still class as the most rewarding Industry to be involved with), I will miss all the people I have meet over those 20 years, so of the most compassionate and caring people in this world. So then Tuesday arrived and I began to set up my home office and concentrate on moving my Photography Business forward, hence this website. I have been into photography since the nice young age of 15-16, even back in the day my first darkroom was dad's garden shed. As life progressed things got in my way of photography (marriage, kids, mortgage) all those types of things that we all go through. Career paths changed throughout the years and never really did much with my photography again until 2008, wow what a change digital was around and I purchased another camera. Again while working full time I wasn't able to devote the time to the art of photography, I would say in the last couple of years has been my reteach myself years in the art of photography. But the driving force behind lots of re learning and many many more hours of photoshop and design work came about in November last year when I suffered a stroke, photography once I left hospital was my therapy ( I was so afraid I would not be able to return to picking up my camera and having the steady hand to take shots again.
Here it is some 10 months later that I said goodbye to the Funeral Industry and to now devoting my days to my Photograph, which by the way was the result of constant prompting from a good mate of mine and through the generosity of the Slacks Creek Rugby League Club who allowed me to turn up week in and week out to take photos.
I sit back and look at those photos and see how much they have changed during the season, so this is something I have wanted to do for sometime now and in a funny sort of way I have to give thanks for having the stroke (otherwise would still be employed full-time) and my mate Shayne who showed the confidences in me and my photography to do this. Yes I still take the odd out of focus photo but they are becoming less and less as time goes by (but then again no-one is perfect right). I have a few shoots coming up in the next couple of months which I am a bit nervous(not worried just nervous about). But I will log about those and even maybe just maybe share a couple of the pics from those shoots here in the blog.
For now take care all.
Cheers Bruce.
